Crystal Cathedral Ministries Gets Two Bids to Buy Campus Out of Bankruptcy

Crystal Cathedral Ministries, the insolvent Southern California church constructed by television evangelist Robert Schuller, accepted at least two proposes to purchase its campus, creditors said in court filings.

Chapman University and Greenlaw Acquisitions LLC both presented $46 million to buy the 30-acre campus in the Orange County, California, and rent back part of the possessions to the church so it can keep on operating, the official commission of unsecured creditors said in papers filed today in U.S. insolvency Court in Santa Ana, California.

The church tactics to vend the campus in a court-supervised public sale with Greenlaw as the opening bidder, said Marc J. Winthrop, Crystal Cathedral’s legal representative.

“We are receiving interest from a group of different probable bidders,” Winthrop said today in an interrogation. A judgment on a purchaser is “a long way off,” he said.

“In brightness of the lucid advantages to the ministry offered by the Chapman University tender, the commission is basically mystified by the position of debtor,” creditors said in court papers.

Thailand’s Yingluck May Spur Prices, Baht in ‘Double Whammy’ for Exporters

The Bank of Thailand is evaluating the monetary effect of policies that may be implemented by the party of Pheu Thai after it succeeds the July 3 election, Director Mathee Supapongse said.
